After graduating from Kyoto University and working at DENSO Corporation, he joined Toyohashi University of Technology. Ph.D. in Informatics from Kyoto University. Previously at Nara Institute of Science and Technology. Developer of "Julius," a large vocabulary continuous speech recognition engine maintained for over 30 years. Also the creator of "MMDAgent," a speech interaction toolkit, and "MMDAgent-EX," an avatar-based voice interaction toolkit.
